At the Austin Children’s Choir, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of your singer. Below you will see our current practices for keeping singers safe and healthy. This page is updated periodically as new information becomes available.

Health & Safety Practices:

  • Singers, their guardians & family, and children’s choir staff must complete a health screener prior to each rehearsal.
  • Areas used by the choir are cleaned and sanitized before and after each rehearsal.
  • Singers are always spaced from one another with at least 6ft in between each singer, or more when space is available.
  • Seating charts are utilized in rehearsals in order to assist with contact tracing when necessary.
  • Weather permitting, we utilize an outdoor rehearsal space when adequate distancing indoors is not possible.
  • We offer an online rehearsal format for singers who are not able to join us in person.
  • As of November 2021, masks are required for everyone who joins us, regardless of vaccination status. (Per St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church rules. We are visitors in their space and must respect their wishes. If you are unwilling or unable to wear a mask, we ask that your singer joins us for online rehearsals.   • As of November 2021, the city of Austin is in Stage 3 for COVID-19 Risk Exposure. We are hosting our rehearsals in conjunction with their guidelines. For more on these guidelines, please visit
  • Our Board of Directors are actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Austin, and are meeting frequently to discuss the need to for updates/changes to our current protocols.

In the event of a positive case among ACC staff we will:

  • Immediately inform the whole choir
  • Adjust to a virtual setting for a minimum of two weeks

In the event of a positive case among ACC singers we will:

  • Immediately inform the whole class
  • Adjust to a virtual setting for a minimum of two weeks

In the event of ACC staff being exposed outside of rehearsal:

  • A fully virtual rehearsal could be held for all singers
  • An in person rehearsal could be held with the director teaching virtually, if circumstances allow.
